The first person on the AppleCare+ line just read the Terms of Service linked above. Not really an answer, but anecdotal evidence in support of AppleCare. If you have an active AppleCare+ plan for a Mac, you can go to within 30 days of the coverage end date and follow the on-screen instructions to extend your coverage.
